Lister Primary School

Young Readers Scheme

Lister Primary School have once again been lucky enough to be involved in The Young Readers Programme 2018. The Young Readers Programme has been put together by The National Literacy Trust to develop a whole-school culture of reading for pleasure. The programme at Lister will involve children from key stage 1 and key stage 2 throughout the school year. During this time children taking part in the programme will be able to:

  • choose and keep new children’s books at a series of fun, reading related ‘events’.
  • earn badges and certificates as ‘Reading Champions’ and
  • enjoy a fun visit to their local library.

These are pictures from year 4’s reading event. Year 4 read their books on the coach while on their way to visit The Deep in Hull.

We had a book sale on parents evening. It was a huge success with many children and parents attending and buying books to read and share with their families.

Year 5 held their event as a pyjama party and read bedtime stories. Everyone came to school in their night clothes.

Children have written book reviews about the books they have received during their events. Here is a selection of book reviews the children have written . These book reviews are going to be displayed in the local library.
